about us >
The collective began as a writing club and has become an artist working group composed of Jamie, Aino, and Sofia. The group works to make written text more visible in the everyday through visual poetry exhibitions, street art, video art, and zines.Jamie Lee is a poet, event producer, and community builder currently pursuing a PhD in social work at the University of Helsinki. Their research is focused on practices of care and queer kinship among QTBIPOC in the Ballroom Scene. Once referred to as the village storyteller, they dream of alternative ways of capturing, re-experiencing, and re-telling “everyday stories” that make life worth living.Aino Rahkonen is a half-Finnish half-American artist based in Helsinki. Outside of the collective she has had solo painting exhibitions and self-published her own book. She holds a Bachelor's in Media and Art and a Master's in Intercultural Encounters. Rahkonen explores themes of inevitability and innateness while working with multiple mediums and found materials.Sofia Sylvia is an artist currently focusing on writing, performance and video. Her practice involves falling in love, thinking nothing is irrelevant and occasionally isolation, returning changed. Everything is autobiographical, experienced through a dream-like lense and melancholy. She is studying in art school Maa.

“Yellowish Pages” Zine is a public phonebook catalogue of messages left unspoken. Through nostalgic poetic prose, we revisit moments and memories shared with people and give ourselves the opportunity to express what we desire(d) to say to those people. This zine challenges readers to reflect on their past, present, and future relationships and question what it means to be in connection with one another. Key themes include love, family, mental health, and belonging. This project has been exhibited at Maa Tila and Vapaan Taiteen Tila with Penthouse Kollektiivi.

We curated a visual poetry exhibition for this UrbanApa x Tekstintalo residency. The title was ‘Spaces as Archives: Identities Through Time’. We compiled works, edited texts, worked on common themes, and then came in with one week to put together a cohesive exhibition. We learned so much about the time it takes and the logistics of the curation of an exhibit. It was such a privilege to be given the space, materials, and emotional support to be creative all week and express your vision.map of the exhibition with context for each work:
